Course Description
With the planned roll-out of Amtrak's new Acela fleet, there are numerous infrastructure improvements being undertaken. Amtrak's project manager (Chris Gray, PE, PMP) will discuss improvements being made at existing Service & Inspection (S&I) facilities in Washington DC, New York, & Boston. S&I improvements include modifications to the existing facilities to support the new Acela operation while maintaining the existing Acela operation. Key improvements include roof access platforms, sanding systems, plumbing upgrades, and new specialty equipment such as drop table supports and split rail lifting carts. Additionally, Mr. Gray will provide an overview of the new storage track improvements being undertaken and planned to take place in Washington DC and New York, respectively.
